Cookie policy
Last updated:
The cookies Future Agent sets, what they are for, and why none of them is used to track you.
This English version is provided for your convenience. If it differs from the French version, the French version prevails, to the extent permitted by the law that applies to you.
1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file that a website stores in your browser. It lets the site recognize you from one page to the next, for example. The browser's local storage (sessionStorage, localStorage) follows the same rules, and this policy covers it too.
2. Cookies used on futureagent.app
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
better-auth.session_token (prefixed __Secure- over HTTPS) | Keeps you signed in, including the anonymous session created with your first message, so you can find your conversations and agents again. | 7 days, renewed on each visit | Strictly necessary |
better-auth.state (prefixed __Secure- over HTTPS) | Protects sign-in with Google against request forgery. Set only if you choose Google. | 5 minutes | Strictly necessary |
NEXT_LOCALE | Remembers the site language (French or English) you chose with the FR/EN switcher, or the one suggested on your first visit, so pages are shown in that language. | 1 year | Strictly necessary |
future-agent:pending-launch (browser session storage, not a cookie) | Remembers the agent you were launching while you created your account, so the launch can resume afterwards. | Until the tab is closed | Strictly necessary |
fa_ref | Remembers the referral code of the link or QR code that brought you here, so your account is credited to the person who recommended Future Agent. Set only when the address contains a code (?ref=). | 30 days | Strictly necessary |
All of these are set by futureagent.app itself. We use no advertising cookies, no audience measurement tools, no social media pixels and no third-party trackers. Fonts are served from our own server.
3. Why there is no cookie banner
Cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you request are exempt from consent (article 82 of the French Data Protection Act, CNIL guidelines, in line with the EU ePrivacy Directive). This applies to every item listed above: without them, the site could not keep your conversation, sign you in or resume an agent launch. That is why no banner asks for your consent.
If we ever add a cookie that requires consent, we will ask for your agreement before setting it.
4. Third-party services opened from the site
Some steps take you from futureagent.app to a provider's website, which applies its own cookies:
- payment on Stripe's secure page (checkout.stripe.com) and the billing portal, which use security and fraud-prevention cookies (Stripe's policy);
- signing in with Google, and granting access to each app you connect (Gmail, Slack, Notion…), on that app's own website;
- WhatsApp, if you open a conversation with Future Agent.
Websites that your agents publish at futureagent.app/s/… are built without cookies or local storage.
5. Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the session cookie, you will no longer be able to sign in or return to a conversation started without an account. If you delete this cookie before creating an account, the anonymous session and its conversations can no longer be accessed from this browser.
